The rentals were usually arranged in the same order, and from at least the early 18th cent. site numbers were given; these remained unchanged, although often greatly subdivided. From 1854 to 1865 the Chapter estates were administered by the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, who re-endowed the Chapter with other estates in the latter year.
