Deeds of Battle, Hooe, etc

Documents deposited with the Sussex Archaeological Society by Raper and Fovargue of Battle, solicitors, in 1938, transferred to ESRO 21 June 1982 (ACC 3206)

This deposit originally consisted of 91 documents, listed by the Revd Walter Budgen soon after their receipt

In June 1957 Kenneth Dickens, Budgen's successor as curator of deeds, added three documents as SAS-RA/92-94. These were part of a deposit of seven documents, SAS ACC 743, made by W A Barron of the Sussex committee of the National Register of Archives on 25 June 1957; the others were listed as SAS/SM 204-206 and PS 141

In April 2004, in the course of preparing this list for inclusion on the Access to Archives Website, an opportunity was taken to make several changes to the list

The documents added in 1957 as SAS-RA/92-94 have been removed and grouped, with the other components of SAS ACC 743, under ESRO ACC 3251, the accession number allotted to SAS/SM 204-206; one, formerly SAS-RA/92, which was listed by the NRA at Brighton Library in about 1950, has been re-united with the documents from that source as ACC 4299/9/3

Four previously uncatalogued documents have been include in the list as SAS-RA/95-98
