Watt served on the Nature Conservancy's Breckland Committee as a representative of the Norfolk Naturalists' Trust. The Committee was established 'with the dual responsibility of providing management advice for the Breckland Nature Reserves, as well as advising generally upon questions affecting Nature Conservation throughout Breckland'. It held its first meeting on 24 July 1958.
