Savage's antiquarian studies led him to amasss a large collection of manuscript notes and printed material, some of which formed the basis of printed books and articles, but many transcripts and copies of original material were not utilised. His home and work were closely linked, and some of the original items in this collection clearly strayed from the collections of the Birthplace Trust.
