Born Appin 23/8/1894; educ Strath of Appin public school and Skerrys College, Glasgow; was a clerk employed in the Civil Service; joined London Univ OTC in Nov 1914; obt a commsn as 2Lt DLI Aug 1915; served BEF F&F from Feb 1916; took part in ops on the Somme at Longueval and Delville Wood; transf to HB MGC in Feb 1917 and died at the base hospital Etaples 18th May of memingitis contracted whilst on service. Unmarried
