Copy deeds relating to the various preferment property transactions (which included sales of reversion or purchases of leasehold interests; sales and purchases of enfranchised copyholds; surrenders etc.), which needed the approval of the Church Estates Commissioners by virtue of an Act (14 & 15 Vict. c. 104) entitled 'An Act to facilitate the management and improvement of Episcopal and Capitular Estates in England' and also by several subsequent amending acts. Often their approval was testified by them being a party to the transaction (as written consent was required).
