[Henry Hooper Fryer, attorney, occurs in Tewkesbury directories of 1820 and 1822, but shortly afterwards seems to have moved his practice to Coleford, where he is found until 1870. An 1876 directory lists a Robert Hoskins Fryer, solicitor, who continued the practice until at least 1906. By 1910 the firm seems to have been replaced by one headed by Thomas Leslie Scoble, who appears for the first time in that year. Scoble became clerk to Coleford Urban District Council, a position he held until c.1925.
The collection of papers, which includes correspondence of another Coleford solicitor, Thomas James, presumably passed into the possession of West Dean Rural District Council in 1935 when Coleford came under its control]
