SHELLGA was formed in 1980 primarily in response to a proposed redevelopment of 92-94 Stamford Hill as an MFI warehouse. The association objected and appealed against the decision. but the proposal went ahead. The majority of the records finish in 1982; the 1985 letter is concerned with extended opening hours for the store.
