Administrative / biographical background

Union Lodge was granted a warrant by the Moderns' Grand Lodge on 7 November 1763 and met in a private room in Bell Lane, Spitalfields, London. The Lodge was erased on 7 April 1784 but reinstated on 17 November the same year. The lodge was erased again on 12 February 1800 but reinstated on 9 April the same year. By 1802 the Lodge met at the Rose and Crown, Booth Street, Spitalfields, London where meetings remained until the lodge lapsed in 1811.
