Established in 1961 to preserve archives of the Methodist Church at national and district (but not circuit) level and manuscripts relating to the religious history of the denomination. In 1977 it was moved from Epworth House, City Road, London to the John Rylands University Library of Manchester, Deansgate, Manchester.
