Black half-leather album, measuring 278 x 370 mm, containing mounted prints with handwritten captions. There are several loose prints at the back of the album which has a broken spine and is in need of rebinding. The collection covers a range of locations and events relating to the career of Sir James Robert Dunlop Smith from his education in Edinburgh, military training at Sandhurst and service in India. The bulk of the collection records historical events such as durbars, official tours and various ceremonies and there are a number of group portraits featuring Viceroys, Lieutenant-Governors and Indian rulers. Locations include Allahabad, Darjiling, Bannu, Dalhousie, Lahore, Multan, Simla, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Attock, Hissar, Chittaurgarh, Abu, Sibi, Patiala, Bhatinda, Delhi, Nabha, Chail, Firozpur, Bahawalpur, Calcutta, Dargai and various small Punjab towns.
