Taunton YMCA grew from its humble first meeting in the bedroom of a private house into an organisation owning a substantial house in St James's Street, Taunton, which was taken over in 1890. 1969 saw the planning of a new Headquarters, eventually reaching fruition in a building erected on a new site at Lisieux Way on the strength of the sale proceeds of the old H.Q.
