The Nightjar was the British service version of the Sparrowhawk series Glosters first production type, being a Nieuport re-engine with a 230 hp Bentley RR2 rotary engine. The Nightjar was used by 203 Squadron on HMS Angus, as a shipboard fighter. It had a top speed of 120 mph and carried two Vickers .303 machine guns
