Description

Annual returns giving names, professions and residence of members of the Lodge at the Turk's Head, Dog Lane, Macclesfield [Antients] and general correspondence relating to the running of the lodge. Includes letters concerning Modern Masons, Masonic Processions and the returning of their warrant. Years 1793, 1794 and 1796 are not extant.

Administrative / biographical background

The lodge was established in 1774 but was never named. In 1774 the lodge met at the Childers, Goose Lane [now Brunswick Street] Macclesfield, Cheshire. In 1794 the lodge moved to the Golden Lion, Mill Street, Macclesfield and in 1799 the lodge moved to the Turk's Head, Dog Lane, Macclesfield. The lodge was dissolved and the warrant returned in 1801.
