Description

These records, the older records inherited by the Cheshire Monthly Meeting, were formerly kept in the strong room of Wilmslow Meeting House. They relate to Cheshire and Staffordshire, 1665-1831, to Staffordshire and the eastern part of Cheshire 1831-1854, and to eastern Cheshire only from 1854-1906.

Administrative / biographical background

Cheshire Q.M. was established in 1668, and in 1783 united with Staffordshire Q.M. to form Cheshire and Staffordshire Q.M. This meeting continued until 1854, when Cheshire and Staffordshire were separated, and Cheshire united with Lancashire to form Lancashire and Cheshire Q.M.
