Description (What the record is about)
-
1 - 8 A continuation from film c7/1/6. I was a little concerned that the wind might have caused the tripod to move on the previous photos, so I've shot these photos of Albert Hulme's using a faster shutter speed. As it turned out I needn't have bothered, the previous shots were O.K.
10 - 13 After I'd finished on the track I carefully picked my way round the side of the sheds - not wishing to arouse the guard dogs - and took these photographs. The sheds, although repaired and patched up with all sorts of bits and pieces, still looked strangely pleasing to me.
The wind continued to blow furiously. I didn't adjust the camera angle on these photos, the wind did. Rummaging about in the undergrowth, searching for firm ground to rest my tripod on, my boots snapped through some branches underfoot. The guard dogs started barking angrily. I decided to call it a day.
Ashton Moss 21 January 1989.
14 - 17 On my previous visits to the Moss I'd seen it (on separate occasions) in brilliant sunshine and under heavy cloud - today in the space of little over an hour I saw it in both.
14 - 17 10.00 a.m. : I paused, by the "NO SHOOTING ALLOWED" sign, expecting to see the gate closed. It wasn't. I hurriedly began to set up my camera. Behind me I could hear the sound of horses hooves. "Nice day for photography" the rider said as she passed me. Pre-occupied with setting up my camera I mumbled a half hearted "yes". I then waited until the rider was in the distance before I began photographing the post, carefully making sure the distant radio masts were vertical in the frame, and weren't sprouting out of the post. I took 3 photographs making minor adjustments to the point of focus.

I like the form of the shed, and as I've already mentioned the patched up nature of it. I tried to isolate the shed as much as possible from the surrounding buildings but there is still a greenhouse encroaching either side of it. The blurred grass gives an indication of how windy it was.
