1955-56 D.Eng.RD development and research estimates

The estimates proposed by Mr Weir are £52,000 in excess of the Armstrong Siddeley Motors budget estimates of August 12 (fourth issue). Since the Armstrong Siddeley Motors budget was submitted to the D.Eng.RD, two further contracts have been agreed with D.Eng.Rd for inclusion in the fiscal year, and these are included in Mr Weir's estimates. 1 30,000 lb rocket combustion chamber research contract 8720/SO20066 received. £20,000. 2 Conversion of gannet aircraft for DM.8 engine. Contract cover has been applied for to MoS. Mr Pearse's letter of 13 September 1955, to Mr Baker. £50,000. This, then, shows a deficite of £18,000 against the Armstrong Siddeley Motors budget. The following internal adjustments to Mr Weir's estimates are considered necessary if we are to do the work we propose in the Armstrong Siddeley Motors budget. Attached is the tabulated budget breakdown
