Personal and official papers of the former Provosts of Eton College. Prior to the 20th century, the papers were regarded as private property of the individuals concerned so there was no systematic attempt to preserve them. For many provosts there is no record at all or only a few isolated documents. The papers of provosts who were Head Masters immediately prior to their election also contain papers relating to their work as Head Master.
