Counterpart of indenture of marriage settlement between ffrancis Watts of Earthcott, als. Urcot, co. Gloucs., gentleman, of the one part and Job Dighton of Clifford Chambers, co. Gloucs., esquire and Anne Dighton his daughter of the other part whereby, in consideration of a marriage shortly to be had between ffrancis Watts and Anne Dighton and of the sum of £500 paid by Job Dighton to ffrancis Watts, the latter for the making of a competent jointure for Anne granted to Job Dighton:-
The messuage in Earthcott als. Urcot then or late in the occupation of John Clarke;
And the following lands in Earthcott als. Urcot in the parish of Alveston, co. Gloucs., viz. three grounds called Stockins of c.40 acres, two grounds called Sparrowes c.10 acres, one ground called Linches Crofte c.8 acres, one meadow of c.7 acres, one ground called Stockhill field c.2 acres, two grounds called Middle Hungers c.15 acres, three grounds called Shellyes c.30 acres and one ground called the New Leyes c.6 acres, all which premises then or late were in the occupation of ffrancis Watts and of William Holley and John Hickes
And the lattermath of a meadow in Earthcott called Parke Meade of c.50 acres
And lands in Earthcott then or late in the occupation of John Clarke called the Home Close, Beane Leyes, Stockehill, Pearetree leyes, Strength, Rushecroftes, Chilwood, Oateleyes and the Meade containing in the whole c.52 acres
And three acres of meadow in the common meadow called Parke Meade
And the messuage situate in Itchington in the parish of Tiddrington [?], co. Gloucs., then or late in the occupation of Umpton Watts, mother of ffrancis Watts
And lands in Itchington in the occupation of Umpton Watts containing c.46 acres known as the Close adjoining the house, Barlandes, Longelandes, Holcombes feild, Ramockes feild, Hansells, Ladden well, Berry feild, Itchington meade and Tyfold Ditch
And the messuage in S(t)idcott [i.e. Stidcott, with 1 lightly struck through in a different ink] in the parish of Tidrington in the occupation of Thomas Smyth
And lands in S(1)idcott therewith enjoyed called the Close next the house, Wetmeare, the Little Parke, the Horse Heyes and the Leyes;
And the messuage in S(1)idcott and lands called the Close next the House, Barnell, Greate Parke, Horse Heyes, Longe furlonge, Jones wood, Shortecombe, neather furlonge and 7 acres in Tiddrington meade then or late in the occupation of John Cullimore
And the messuage, and close adjoining and lands called the New Leasowe, the Leyes, Tynwells, Tyfold, Wetmeare neare Towerhill and Itchingtons more situate in Tiddrington and Itchington and then or late in the occupation of Joseph Pullen and Joane Pullen
And the cottage in Tiddrington and adjoining close and one mead called Longe Mead and 2 acres in Tiddrington meade in the occupation of Thomas Davyes
And the cottage and adjoining close and 2 acres in Tiddrington meade in the occupation of John Wilshire
All which properties were to be held by Job Dighton for the following uses: viz. the messuage in Earthcott then or late in the occupation of John Clarke and the lands in Earthcott called Stockinges, Sparrowes, Linches Crofte, the meadow of 7 acres, Stockehill field, Middle Hungers, Shelleys and new leyes to the use and behoof of ffrancis Watts for life and then to the use and behoof of Anne his intended wife for life for her jointure and in lew recompence and satisfaccion of her Dower and title of Dower, and thereafter to their sons in order of seignioritie and age or to his right heirs for ever, and all other properties mentioned to the use and behoof of ffrancis Watts, his heirs and assignes for ever, such uses and limitations to be subject to amendment by ffrancis Watts and Job Dighton at any time during their joint lives, and the usual undertakings by the grantor to include indemnification for any possible charges, titles and incumbrances made by Grevill Watts deceased, his brother.
