The petition of Thomas Slaughter and Peter Morgan, Esq's. Sheriffs, on behalf of themselves and others of the Common Council, was read, concerning the troublesome and expensive burden of providing household furniture, plate and linen for the Assize Judges and their attendants (ZA/B/4/184v) and proposing that the same should be purchased for future use as in the annexed articles, the money to be advanced on the credit of the Corporation but to be repaid with interest, each Sheriff within a month of his election paying to a Treasurer appointed five guineas to pay the interest and that the remainder be accumulated to repay the principal. They prayed that £150 might be raised. Hearing of the petition was respited till the next Assembly.
