Albert Bracegirdle is the son of Albert Edward Bracegirdle senior, a market gardener of 4, Hallman Lane, Heyhead and now deceased. He became a baker and confectioner in Moss Nook after working with the baker who had the co-op shop in Styal. In 1952 he took one of the first shops in Woodhouse Park, part of the new Wythenshawe estate. (For further details refer to the summary of his tape.) He was brought up at the cottage at 4, Hallman Lane then known as Poplar Grove, and he went to Shadow Moss school. He was in the R.A.F. during the Second World War, in the Rhodesia Regiment. His wife's name is Margery, and they have three children, Paul, Ann (now married) and Colin. He gave up his shop in 1974. He was born 19 Dec 1920.
