Administrative / biographical background

Much of the material was collected by the Reverend Charles Macan Rice (1870-1950), Rector of Medbourne cum Holt, Leicestershire, towards an intended history of the Rice family. He published a monograph The Rices of Warwickshire in 1941. The papers passed to his nephew, Dr Hugh Macan Rice, who continued his uncle's researches and published David Rice of Ambleston and his descendants in 1994. He had deposited the papers in 1991
