The Marquis of Granby Lodge No. 124 was established in 1763, although it had meet without a warrant since 1738. From 1738 to 1768 the lodge mainly met at the Bird and Bush, Sadler Street, Durham, which in 1763 changed its name to the Marquis of Granby. The lodge was named the Marquis of Granby Lodge in 1782. The lodge now meets at the Masonic Hall, 36 Old Elvet, Durham.
