View of a tent at Merivale Sanatorium, Essex. A woman sits in her bed in the tent attended by a nurse, whilst a doctor / visitor sits beside the tent on a chair. The 'tent' is a wooden structure, with sides having open frames for hanging the tent's canvas. Fresh air was believed to be of benefit in the treatment of respiratory diseases, especially tuberculosis. Postmarked and stamped. Message on reverse (pencil) reads: 'So sorry please convey my deepest sympathy to [....] at Godley. I am in a tent like this. R R.' The back of the card is printed with 'Merivale, Nr Chelmsford, Essex.'
