Description

Secret letters from the Bengal Government (1817-1834) and the Government of India (1834-1865) mainly to the Secret Committee of the EIC Court of Directors in London (1817-1858) and to the India Office, London (1858-1865). Includes some letters sent by Governors General in an individual capacity. Vol 6 (1830-1832) deals specifically with China, Vol 7 (1832) with the Portuguese at Macao, and China in general. Vol 18 (1859-1860) includes abstracts of enclosures; Vol 19 (1861-1865) contains Secret Letters from India and Madras as well as abstracts of enclosures
