The United Operative Masons' Association of Scotland (UOMAS), also known as the Operative Masons' Association of Scotland, claimed, in the 1920s, to have been instituted in October 1831 (MSS.78/BMWAS/2/2/1/i). In 1920 it joined other Scottish unions to form the Building and Monumental Workers' Association of Scotland (q.v., MSS.78/BMWAS). Only a small collection of its papers has survived among the papers of UCATT. Some rule books, annual reports, and returns survive in the Webb collection in the British Library of Political & Economic Science.
