Album containing B&W photographs of improvements to the Kafr-El-Zayat Railway Bridge, Egypt from 1947 to 1949. Begun in 1852, the original Bridge opened to Kafr-el-Zayat in 1854. Each image is accompanied by a date and caption detailing the content of the image. Images include: Views of the site and Bridge from the roof of a house. Workers shelter, Workers operating and observing machinery, Workers and Donkeys on sand Causeways, Workers posing amongst shuttering, a working chamber of Caisson, next to a Pier reinforcement and a fixed and grouted Pivot. Two images of The Chief Engineer's Party during a site visit. Also, various crane accidents.
