Description

Two notebooks containing extracts [by the Revd. George Harbin (non juror)] from the manuscript lives of the Earls of Shrewsbury by the antiquary Dr. Nathaniel Johnston. They comprise:

(1) 'Collections out of the five MSS folio volumes of the Families of Lovetot, Furnival & Verdon, but cheifly of the great Family of the Talbots Earls of Shrewsbury. Which volumes belong to the Library of the Ld Visct Weymouth at Longleate, and were all, wth great industry, written by Dr. Nath. Johnston, Dr of Physick, & dedicated to George Savil, Marquis of Halifax, Feb.8.1693/4' (ff.1-47).

(2) 'Collections out of Dr Johnston's MSS volumes of the Lives of the Earls of Shrewsbury' (ff.49-87).
