Richard Briggs (1878-1952) was a painter and decorator by trade but was also a talented amateur artist and photographer and had aspirations as a writer. He lived in and around Handsworth for most of his life and kept a diary from 1896 when he was aged 17yrs until 1951. He died aged 74yrs in June 1952.
