Description (What the record is about)
-
The contents of this file were formerly in a portfolio entitled:
Jas. Watt 1827 to
This is the title recorded in the Inventory compiled by the Assay Office in 1921, but unfortunately the portfolio was subsequently discarded. Under Matthew Robinson Boulton's scheme of arrangement the file was probably placed in Box K. I with the earlier files of Watt correspondence, though by 1921 it was in Box K. II.
The letter of 14 Nov. 1828 was extracted by the Assay Office from another file, but its origin is unknown. Watt's letter of 3 Mar. 1829 was filed with that of 7 Jun. 1828 (45).
