Harold was born 29/6/1894 (probably at 3 Cross Lane - 1901 census), Dronfield, Derbyshire, He was the 5th child of John Henry And Mary Elizabeth (nee BEAUMONT) STAVELEY. With parents dead by 1906, Harold lived with married sister Lucy (nee STAVELEY) WEBSTER at 21 Mill Lane, Dronfield. On conscription, Lucy became his Next of Kin and the previously attached Belton Park photo was sent to her address. As part of 39 Division, Harold was involved in the Battle for the Menin Road Ridge, begun in the early hours of 20/9/1917. Within 36 hours his right knee was blasted by shell fragments. Post war, he married Annie Isabel SMALLBONES. They lived at 20 Mill Lane, Dronfield (next door to his former address), until the September 1957 offer of 39 Sycamore Avenue, Dronfield. Occupationally, He was a Spindle Grinder on conscription; post war, a Core Oven Attendant in a Dronfield iron foundry. He died 5/9/1965 in Chesterfield Royal Hospital. His remains share a family grave in Dronfield Cemetery.
