The gamecock was aerodynamically a Grebe with a 425 hp Bristol Jupiter VI engine which proved more reliable than the Jaguar. With the same armament, the top speed was 155 mph. The gamecock which equipped Squadrons 3, 17, 23, 32 and 43 was the last all-wooden fighter being replaced by the Bulldog
