Roll of Honour , Vol II, Sect 1, p 294 - Portrait: only son of the late Henry Hocart Wyatt, Paymaster,RN by his wife Charlotte Jane (K5 Queen Alexandra's Court, Wimbledon, SW) d. of Samuel Wyatt. Born St Heliers, Jersey, CI, 16/3/1875, educ R Naval School, New Cross and Eltham. Was Asst Sec at Queen Anne's Mansions; joined old boys Corps Sept 1914. Obtained a commission in MGC 22/7/15; served with Indian Exped Force in Mespot from Oct 1916 and was KIA during the advance on Kut 19/2/17. Buried near where he fell. His CO wrote " your son was killed on 19th Feb last whilst superintending the construction of emplacements for machine guns which covered the crossing of the Tigris River on 23 Feb. His work necessitated exposing himself and he was shot through the head by a sniper from the opposite bank of the river. Your son had joined this Company on 18/12/16 and was engaged in the heavy fighting east and west of the Hai river which finally caused the Turks to retire from Kut and during that short time had endeared himself to all his brother officers and men of the Company. His death was deeply regretted by all. Courageous, almost to a fault and a stern sense of duty made him a very valuable officer". Unmarried.
