Description (What the record is about)
-
There are two surviving files in the 'Financial' subject category. The earlier file, which is a bound volume, contains correspondence about banking in Persia, Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf, particularly the rival operations of the Eastern Bank, the Imperial Bank of Persia (later the Imperial Bank of Iran) and others. The later file contains only one document: an agreement permitting the opening of a Dubai branch of the Imperial Bank of Iran, in 1946.
-
Arrangement (Information about the filing sequence or logical order of the record)
-
The file and volume are arranged chronologically by their original A series file number: 60 being the subject reference (Financial) and 20 or 54 being a unique sequential file number, relating to a specific topic within that subject. These are the only two files and volumes to have survived from the financial subject sub-sub-series. The large gaps and high file numbers suggest that many files have been lost. The earlier file, numbered '60/20' is followed by the Roman numeral 'I', indicating that it is 'Part 1' of a file that was subdivided into two or more file parts. The earlier file also has a second file reference number, 'C 93', indicating that it was renumbered into the confidential file series, in which the letter 'C' represents the subject category 'Bahrain'.
