Folio 116. Draft letter from the Local Government Board to Walter May Barton, Clerk to the Guardians of the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union in response to his letter dated 25 February 1885 relative to the claim of the guardians upon the parliamentary grant for the year ended Michaelmas 1884, in respect of the cost of maintenance for 53 weeks of certain pauper lunatics chargeable to that union. In reply to his enquiry the board replies that they are unable to suggest any means by which the guardians could render themselves entitled to claim payment from the grant for more than 52 weeks in one year except if in the preceding year payment was made for 51 weeks only.
