Other Data: John Graves, born 25/8/1875. Next of kin: Mrs J Graves, Bear Street, Barnstaple. MGC att from Ind Cav ( 36 Jacobs Horse) died of wounds received in action 16/4/1917. Volunteer Service in S Africa with Lumsden's Horse, MID 10/9/01. Rangoon Vol Rifles Aug 1914- March 1915. Commanded a Coy and a Mtd Coy. To UK April 1915 - L Gazette (Capt) for service with Regt (Ind Cav) in France. Att Suffolk Yeo 1915 - offered a Sqn and Majority, but Ind. Army refused to release him. Became MG instructor. Ind Cav Dec 1915 - joined 36 Jacob's Horse (MG Detachment - 90 men, 110 horses and 4 guns). Merged with Lucknow MG Sqn (2 i/c). London Gazette 11/7/1916 Capt MGC (aged 41) invalided from MG Sqn and passed for general service 3/11/1916. Joined MGC (Cav) Trg Centre, Maresfield Park, Uckfield on 1/1/1917 and embarked foe EEF for duty w. Indian Cav.;

Other Notes: J GRAVES Captain 36th Jacob's Horse who died on Monday 16 April 1917 . Age 43 .
Additional Information: Son of John Graves; Husband of Ethel F. Graves, of Priory Cottage, Pontport St., Barnstaple.
