Title
Letter from Cyril at Hotel Balmoral Menton France to Tom at Armstrong Siddeley Motors: re unidentified Siddeley car on road trials
Date
5 November 1951
Description

He covered 403 miles in eight hours, running at over 70 mph at times and the car felt comfortable at that speed. Sticking valves caused a serious problem which was done by a local garage. The problem was caused by the standard grade petrol bought locally in France. The valve guides don't like it anymore than the seats. We found that by adding an upper cylinder lubricant, it solved the problem of sticking valves. The car holds the road magnificently, and steers well and stops when asked
