Proceedings of Court of Enquiry 3/4/1919 assembled at Belton Park 19/10/1918 by order of Lt Col CJ Troyte-Bullock, DSO, Cdg 6(Res)Bn MGC investigating circumstances in which the loss of 20 £1 notes belonging to No34(Res)Coy occured and of recording opinion as to responsibility for loss: (substantial documentation!)
Opinion: a certain amount of laxity was shown by Lt WSL Cooper in bothy receiving and handing over the cash in question. Court suggests that it would be advisable in future for more than one officer to draw cash from the bank. Opinion that Lt Peel was extremely careless in checking money handed over to 34(Res) Coy and considers that as he gave the receipt for £310 in question, he should be held responsible for the deficit of £20. CO concurs.
