These records were presented to the office by Mr R. J. Ayres of Girton, 24 July 1964 and 10 June 1971.

Administrative / biographical background

Nothing is known of the history of these archives beyond that they are believed to have come from a family source.

The Choral Society is characteristic of many that existed in rural Cambridgeshire in the nineteenth century, a few only of which survive Mr Ayres is believed to have been a County Council officer, which may explain his possession of the one miscellaneous item.
