Administrative / biographical background

Holm Hospital was formerly the workhouse for Tewkesbury Union. It became a hospital under the National Health Service, but some series of hospital records are continuations of the work-house records (G/TEW), which should be consulted.

From 1948 the hospital was administered jointly with Tewkesbury Hospital and (from 1949) Tredington Isolation Hospital. Some classes of record reflect this union.

The hospital closed in 1996
