The company was formed to buy the existing businesses of Peter Walker and Son (at Warrington and Liverpool); Monro & Co (at Warrington and Liverpool); A B Walker & Sons (at Burton-on-Trent); A B Walker & Co (at Liverpool); and related activities at Manchester, Salford, Birmingham, Bootle, Birkenhead, Crewe, Chester, Widnes and elsewhere. The purchase was effected from 31 December 1889. The first Chairman was Sir Andrew Barclay Walker, and the two managing directors his sons William Hall Walker and John Reid Walker. The other directors were Peter C Walker, G H Robertson, Matthew Bullock and Colonel C E Hamilton MP
Registered on 16 April 1890 as Peter Walker & Son Warrington and Burton Ltd; name changed to Peter Walker (Warrington) Ltd on 22 June 1946. It became a subsidiary of Walker-Cain on the merger of the companies in 1921; and its own (later) subsidiaries were

The assets of these subsidiary companies, with the exception of the Property Corporations, were liquidated in September 1955 and the assets transferred to Peter Walker (Warrington)
A 1955 report (M380PWK/4/1/99, below), describing Walker-Cain states: "[Peter Walker (Warrington) Ltd] is a wholly owned subsidiary as far as the ordinary stock [of Walker Cain] is concerned. It is the operating company of the Group and owns the Groups' ownly Brewery which is at Warrington. it is responsible for production and distribution of all beers and stout of its own manufacture and some of the foreign beer etc. to all houses within the Group. Wines and Spirits are blended and bottled and, together with proprietory brands, are distributed from separate premises in Liverpool
The responsibility for tenanted and managed houses within the Group lies with this Company and, in fact, the general business is conducted through the name of this Company
