Description (What the record is about)
-
This deposit includes the interviews and related material from Hilary Wainwright's research into the changing basis of the Labour Party during the 1980s. She examined the new initiatives emerging from local government, local and workplace trade unionism, women's sections, black sections and the peace movement and their impact on traditional perceptions of the Labour Party (from inside and outside the Party). The interviews were conducted with a cross-section of people who were part of this radical socialist politics and examined the problems of developing new structures and the future of the Labour Party at the time of its third successive election defeat.
