Title
Letter from Lady Catherine Ashburnham to Rupert Gunnis
Date
22 Jan 1945
Description

Sends thanks for the wonderful gift of diamonds; the green and yellowy stones show up best in daylight. Thinks that the excavations are the foundations of the old stables. Encloses notes concerning the Ormonde portrait in the dining room. [RH] D'Elboux believes that Bertram was probably the trustee for the Charles [1] relics because the heir was under 21. Is pleased that the Matron was placated with her offering, and the poor wounded soldier enjoyed his visit and will be allowed back to his native Highlands. Is depressed by the advance of the Bolshevists into Hungary.
