The practice was started by Walter Coe in c1855. He was succeeded by his son W B Coe in 1893, who was in turn succeeded by his son Thomas Arthur Coe. T A Coe moved the practice from Risbygate Street to Whiting Street, Bury St Edmunds, and in c1921 went into partnership with E A Hudson. After c1930 T A Coe continued the partnership alone.
