Description (What the record is about)
-
This series comprises information about various exhibitions neither organised or hosted by M. Knoedler & Co., which was found scattered across the Simpson Archive. During the process of cataloguing, it was brought together and arranged chronologically, and all exhibition titles, dates, and locations are those given in the records. The material comprises brief notes about when and where works of art were exhibited, as well as more substantial records which show Knoedler's staff, in particular, Letitia Simpson, provided pedigree information for other organisations and arranged for the loan of works of art. It includes:
-correspondence
-photographs of works of art
-small index cards used to record exhibitions, artists, titles, dimensions, catalogue numbers, and owners of pictures. These were found arranged chronologically in envelopes from the Courtauld Institute of Art
-lists of pictures
-pedigree information
-extracts from published material
-publicity material
