Description

The Mayor, Baliffs and Communalty of Coventry to John Clarke of Coventry, builder of (1) 3 pieces of pasture, part of 'Swans Croft', Lammas Land, lying behind Bishop Street, formerly devised by the Corporation on Thomas Dullison. Annexed plan [no longer attached] is referred to. Boundaries of the three pieces are separated by the New Nuneaton Turnpike and the Coventry Canal. The Eastern part is bounded to the East, South East and South by a lane belonging to John Simpson and Henry Price, going from Coventry to Bulkington; to the West by the Nuneaton Turnpike, to the North by Sir Thomas White's Charity Estate. The middle piece of land is bounded to the South and East by the Nuneaton Turnpike, to the South West by the tow path of the Coventry Canal and to the North by the Sir Thomas White's Charity Estate. The next piece of land is bounded to the North, North East and East by the towpath of the Coventry Canal, to the North by Sir Thomas White's Charity Estate. The final piece of land is bounded to the North, North East and East by the towpath of the Coventry Canal, to the South by Sir Thomas White's Charity Estate, to the West by the Old Bedworth Road and the property of George Eld of Coventry, baker and on the North by part of Sir Thomas White's Charity Estate. The canal proprietors covenant to pay 19s. 2d. fee farm rent yearly for their land. John Clarke has right of way, through the part of Sir Thomas White's Charity Estate lying to the South of the land. Covenant that John Clarke is to pay £200 if fee farm rent is not paid on the appointed day.
