Administrative / biographical background

James Willson was born at Gamlingay, Cambridge, in 1830.

The shoe retailing business of James Willson at Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, was in existence in 1861 with an address at the Corn Market. By 1864 the business had moved to Lake Street, and by 1869 to 39 High Street

The records of the Prior family come from the connection of Hannah Prior, who was born Hannah Willson.

The Hubbins family became involved in the business James Willson Boot & Shoe Retailer, upon the death of Mrs E E Miles, the former proprietor [see Z 993/2/3].
