SLIDES, PHOTOGRAPHS AND DOCUMENTS RELATED TO VARIOUS PEOPLE AND LOCATIONS

Majority of the deposits donated by Mr Cordwell on behalf of Mr George Harris. His father was a lithographer on the Manchester Courier. He acquired a collection of negatives by Alfred Brothers a noted local photographer. They had been prepared by the Brothers during the period 1870-1890 and had been used in a publication by Cornish Booksellers entitled "Manchester As It Is". This was published at the turn of the century. Mr Harris' father made the glass slides from the original negatives in the mid 1920's. All the slides measure 8cmx8cm. 1568/15 and 1568/16 belonged to Mr Cordwell's father who was the head gardener of Peel Park, Salford
