Custodial history

This estate, anciently called Snelleshow, belonged to Whalley abbey. In 1553 it was sold to John Crombock with whose descendants it remained until sold in 1699 to the Whalleys of Sparth in Clayton-le-Moors, in whose family it was held until being sold in 1871 to Solomon Longworth; it then came to the Greenwoods by marriage.
