Description

Letters, memoranda, agreements etc. with clerks, engine erectors, agents, foremen and other employees beginning with A and B, from 1785 to 1848. The papers give the details of character references, rates of pay, terms of work, gifts and presents, reasons for departure, and so on. The material in these bundles was brought together from several original sources, including a set of articles of agreement, and separate correspondence and papers dealing with terms of work.
